Discussion of new charge by the Senate Council Chair (see below). This was related to the new Initiative that was reported upon at our last Senate meeting.
The Board of Trustees has charged President Capilouto with moving quickly to develop detailed plans in the following areas: More Educated Kentuckians, More Readiness; More Partnerships; More Employee Recruitment and Retention; and More Responsiveness. Regarding the Readiness charge, the Board compelled the President to use the (existing) shared governance structures to assess, evaluate, and revise UK Core. Regarding the Responsiveness charge, there is an expectation that there will be changes to the University’s Governing Regulations (GRs), Administrative Regulations (ARs), and other policies.
The SAPPC is hereby charged with the following:
- More Readiness: Evaluate the process being used in the review of UK Core and provide frequent updates to the Senate Council and/or Senate Council Chair on the application of shared governance and compliance with UK’s established shared governance structure.
- More Responsiveness: Review, as directed, proposed changes to University ARs, GRs, and other policies, and provide rapid reports on the anticipated results of revised regulations/policies.
